I work as the Urban Aboriginal Healthy Living Coordinator at our local Friendship Centre, where I provide free services to those who may not be financially stable. Programs such as Personal Training, Group Fitness, Nutrition/Healthy Living Presentations,Youth Leadership/Recreation:Canoeing/Camping/Hiking, Sport Programs, etc.
I also provide outside of my full-time job, workout programs for those looking to get started on their own.
A few of my hobbies not mentioned below would be hunting, four-wheeling, redecorating, water sports (tubing, waterskiing), and relaxing on the lake on the pontoon.
Lived my whole life in the tiny isolated town of Red Lake, where our only options being little was to be one of those bush kids and play every sport
All through public school, highschool, and college I have played sports. Hockey being my favorite and played since I was 6 or 7 up until college, cross-country running since I was in grade 4, soccer, badminton, basketball and track and field (usually strong in the running, and shot-put area).
When I wasn't playing sports I was wrestling with my two brothers (and kicking their asses), jumping off buildings into the lake, playing cops and robbers using the whole town, and other mischievous activities.
Fitness became to be apart of my lifestyle when I was very young, playing all those sports, but my passion for the fitness industry really started when I hit grade 12 gym. My teacher was always instructing either a boot camp or aerobics of some sort, and one day she let me instruct and I LOVED it.
An inspiration of mine would have to be my grade 12 teacher, and Andrea Smith-Get Ready Girls. Andrea lived down the street from me in Madsen and I remember always hanging around with her younger sister and brother. When Andrea lit up, I would always be checking her facebook for new amazing photos, and I remember thinking to myself.. WOW I so want to be her.
My #1 inspiration however is my older brother, Tyler Mills. Tyler was an avid gym goer who always pushed his limits. We always used to compare our biceps to our dads for fun, Tyler always beating us both. Being little Tyler and I were inseparable, almost twins, however when we grew up we grew apart as siblings and fought all the time (teenagers...). Going to the gym was pretty much the only thing we shared anymore or the only thing we related to.
At the age of 22 Tyler passed in a hunting incident.
So when I am in the gym, I constantly remind myself to push harder even if I don't want to, reminding myself that he no longer has this chance to workout like he loved to and that I shouldn't take advantage of it.
Hes my daily motivator even though hes gone.

(I know this is so cliche, however I strongly believe that this is how we should interpret life. You're only given one life, a life at which could be gone in a blink of an eye, so why not make the best of it, take risks and go for what you truly want regardless of who you piss off or what obstacles you have to face to get there.
